Ever since he can remember, Christophe DANCHAUD has true passion for Art, in all its forms. He always knew he would be somewhere between light and shadow.
Christophe first expressed himself through dance, fully embracing this aesthetic of movement through time and space in every medium, including musicals (Jacques DEMY's "Trois Places pour le 26," and "Cabaret"), television, videos, and dance companies (Les Ballets de Jazz de Paris). He backed huge stars such as Mylène FARMER, the #1 female singer in France, later choreographing and collaborating on the artistic direction of her concert tours. Thanks to all his experience in performance art, Christophe discovered the magic of the lights, the artist, and the illusion created by make-up.
Then came a crucial, life-changing encounter. Renowned make-up artist Jacques CLEMENTE asked Christophe to assist him on Robert ALTMAN’s motion picture "Prêt-à-Porter" with Julia ROBERTS, Sofia LOREN, Kim BASINGER, Lyle LOVETT, Marcello MASTROIANNI, etc... This was Christophe's first step into the world of feature films, and it was a revelation. He understood right away that this was a new way to express himself, and his enthusiasm was contagious. He combined his artistic sensibility with cinematic filters to transform or enhance the actors who always made him dream. He created the make-up of Anouk GRINBERG in "Disparus," Vanessa PARADIS in "The Girl on the Bridge" ("La Fille sur le Pont"), Monica BELLUCCI's Egyptian period design in "Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra," and most recently, Audrey TAUTOU in "The Da Vinci Code." |
Christophe came to realize that the 'seventh art' was but one medium for his incredible need to create, so he segued into fashion and advertising where his work was quickly noted and appreciated.
In the world of make-up and cosmetics, Christophe is respected for his remarkable technique, his great creativity, and his openess and natural ability to blend into the universe of whichever artist he works. Within only a few years, he has collaborated with top designers and photographers and their subjects, including Karl LAGERFELD, Jean-Baptiste MONDINO, Peter LINDBERGH or Ellen VON UNWERTH, Monica BELLUCCI, Juliette BINOCHE, Mylène FARMER, Vanessa PARADIS, Audrey TAUTOU, Sharon STONE, Catherine DENEUVE, Keira KNIGHTLEY, Marion COTILLARD….
Cinema, Fashion, Advertising: these are the elements of Christophe Danchaud’s atypical trilogy. Three media in which he has developed true savoir faire, three media in which he expresses true artistic sensibility, always with one goal: to create images of beauty. |
